![]() ![]() It's a very good horror/suspense film held back by bad acting and somewhat forgettable main characters. PoD is basically Assault on Precinct 13 with Satan and hobo-zombies instead of gangsters. I thought the last act was a little weak when they teleport to the aliens lair, as it looks like it was shot in a parking garage or something, but the ending is still good and it doesn't detract too much from the film. Rodney Piper does a great job (I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum) and it has one of the greatest scenes in any movie(the fist-fight). ![]() They Live is more relevant than ever and a must-see for any Carpenter fan. Prince of Darkness and They Live fall into this category and they are both awesome movies. I think a lot of carpenter's later movies are better than people give them credit for (sorry for the wall of txt I'm a big fan and got carried away). If it gets rolling and he could pick up some of the set designers from Pandorum, stick to what he knows with physical design and effects ala the Thing and get some great make up artists he could probably pull this off well. I think it possible, but may be a stretch for him this late in the game for him. I have a lot of really mixed feelings as a fan of both the franchise and the director. This may be set on a ship, but it is a fucking huge planet cracker. ![]() Scale is a concern as the bulk of his better films take place in small areas. ![]() Out of his films Halloween, The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness I feel are the important ones to show he can do atmosphere, creature and surreal which are pretty critical to something like this as a project. He's got the skills, but his support crew would be more important since he hasn't made to much that was worth a damn since Vampires, even that was cheesy albeit entertaining. Most of the films mentioned are 20 to 30 years old. I like Carpenter, but he has done nothing but flops for the last decade. ![]()
